IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE

The current COVID-19 pandemic, and the response of federal and state authorities has made it necessary to balance protecting our patients from unnecessary exposure with the need to continue to care for them.  Therefore, in an effort to do this and to comply with the guidelines issued by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the State of Florida, Leder Retina & Uveitis will postpone routine exams but will continue to see clinic patients who have an urgent or emergent need. Both new and returning patients will be contacted to confirm or reschedule their appointments. We will continue to take call for local hospitals. We will be available for emergency consultation by phone or referrals as needed by our patients, referring doctors and the community. We hope everyone stays safe during this unprecedented emergency.  Please do not take any unnecessary risks and remember, we will always be available to see you if your condition worsens, or you feel the need to come in.

What to Expect on Your First Visit:

We recognize that your time is important, and we strive to be as efficient and thorough as possible. A thorough exam is time consuming (1-2 hours for a new patients), so we strive to make your visit as quick and efficient as possible.  In order to examine your retina properly, you will need to be dilated (20 min) after an initial work up with a technician (30 min). We often do preliminary testing (10 min) before you see the doctors.  After the doctor talks to you and examines your eyes, he may send you for some additional photographs.  The doctor will then explain your condition to you, along with your treatment options, and come up with a treatment plan with you.  Often that treatment plan is initiated at the first visit. Although your first visit may be long, your subsequent visits will be shorter.
